Asus

ASUSTeK Computer Inc., widely known as Asus, was founded in Taipei in 1989 by T.H. Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh, and M.T. Liao—four computer engineers formerly associated with Acer. The brand name 'Asus' originates from Pegasus, the winged horse of Greek mythology symbolizing wisdom and artistic inspiration. Asus initially established its industry reputation by engineering world-class motherboards. A notable turning point occurred early in its history when Asus engineered a prototype motherboard for Intel's 486 processor before Intel had fully resolved design bugs on its own reference board, cementing a long-standing partnership between the two technology pioneers.

Throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, Asus transitioned from an OEM component supplier into a global consumer tech giant. In 2006, Asus launched its iconic sub-brand, Republic of Gamers (ROG), which rapidly defined high-performance PC gaming hardware. Shortly thereafter, in 2007, Asus ignited a global consumer market revolution by introducing the original Eee PC, creating the netbook category and bringing affordable, highly portable computing to millions around the world.

Today, Asus stands as one of the world's top PC vendors, renowned for its innovative laptops, dual-screen devices, graphic cards, and networking equipment. Beyond consumer PCs with product lines like ZenBook and Vivobook, Asus continues to drive mobile hardware boundaries with the ROG Phone gaming smartphone series and expanding AI and enterprise computing infrastructure across global markets.
